Scope and Content

By the Lord High Treasurer, Sir George Calvert, knight principal Secretary of State, Sir Julius Caesar, knight Master of the Rolls, Sir Lionell Cranfeild, knight Master of the Wards.

Reciting a Treasury Warrant of 15 Nov. 1620 which assigned the 1,000 tons of alum for foreign vend to satisfy the annuitees (the King taking the 800 tons for home vend) who shall pay Sir A. Ingram his £10 a ton; if the annuitees objected, Sir Arthur was to vend the alum himself, this to take effect on 1 Mar.1628.

Now because 300 tons is already mined for the foreign vend and Sir Arthur has not yet received his £3,000 to his loss and the poverty of 2,000 workmen, he shall sell the foreign vend abroad as he pleases. However the King reserves the right to return to the old arrangement whenever he pleases. (The annuitees were Alderman Johnson and Mr. Essington.)

Signatures: J. Maundeville, Geo. Calvert, Jul. Caesar, Lionell Cranfelde.

A further note signed by Maundeville that this be minuted to the Privy Council for their opinion with which he will concur.
