Scope and Content

The Lords Commissioners for the Treasurer depose that 400 tons of alum from the 1,000 tons foreign vend, set aside for annuities and the wages of workmen remains unsold and is causing great hardship. The Agents complain that they are already deeply engaged with unsold alum, but are ordered to take the 400 tons this time. In future the annuitants should take their annuities in alum and sell abroad as best they can, paying Sir Arthur Ingram £10 a ton. If they refuse, Sir Arthur must sell it though the annuitant Mr. Low has taken his parcel of £1,300 worth as an example.
