Letter

Scope and Content

From Edward Petter to his wife Angee, from near New Zealand. Another long letter in which Edward talks about the people he has met, the scenery and the weather. He is on board the S.S. Kiakousa for most of the letter, but spent a couple of hours in Hobart where he took the opportunity to make some business calls. He tells Angee of an issue on board involving a man who he describes as a 'fearful drunkard' and who 'has been a regular corrupter' being blasphemous about the gospel and who tried his hardest to discourage people from attending the meetings. Having been rebuked by the Captain, this man went to Edward and acknowledged his bad behaviour and asked Edward's advice on how he could change. He was happy to receive letters from home on arrival in New Zealand. Business has been okay, with highs and lows. Although he hasn't found many people to break bread with, he has met up again with Mr Lowe and his wife.
