HEATHFIELD HOUSE, BLETCHINGDON

Scope and Content

Wing's "Annals of Bletchingdon" p.54

said that Heathfield House was built by

Thomas Walker in 1816, and that the land

had been "waste or not much better than

waste land before then". As the

following documents show, Walker had

bought the land from James, Lord

Arundel, in 1814. The history of the

land before 1752 is not known.

As can be seen from the following deeds,

the property was bought by Arthur

Annesley (XIII), Viscount Valentia in

1868 as a dower house for his mother and

stepfather.
