MESSUAGE FORMERLY CALLED JOHNSONS AT BLETCHINGDON

Scope and Content

This property was made over to John

Coghill, Sir Thomas' second son in

1661/2 (see 1D/54-55 above).

John Coghill's daughter Elizabeth

married John Knapp, and in 1691 the

property was assigned to him by his

father-in-law. The property descended to

his son Coghill Knapp, who had to

sell it to his creditors (including

the then Bishop of Gloucester), who in

turn sold it to Francis Annesley (VI) in

1739/40.
