These two letters are written to Lord Russell and Lady Russell. They concern the need for Lord Russell to be in town for the marriage of a close relation that cannot go ahead without his presence, and the trial of Lord Shaftsbury to occur in Oxford for treason with judges differing in opinion on the case. Also included is mention of Lord Halifax against Lord Hide and Lord Anglesey being turned out over speaking against France. The other letter addressed to Lady Russell contains Vernon's condolences at the death of Lady Russell's sister [Lady Gainsborough].
