This group of correspondence contains letters between George Savile, 1st Marquess of Halifax and: Lady Russell; Sophia Palatine of Hanover; Lord Stanhope and Wriothesley Russell, Marquess of Tavistock.

The topics of the letters include: Lady Russell's support of Lord Halifax; Sophia Palatine's views on the royal crown and the excitement of the birth of a prince; alliance with Sophia's illustrious family; offering his services and respect to Sophia Palatine; reference to 'S.A.'; marriage advice to Lord Stanhope and unfounded rumours of his wife; wishes to Lord Chesterfield; warning Lord Tavistock of the company he keeps and that little information will come of a trip to Worcestershire to see his estates at the moment; mention of Lord Plymouth.

Also included is a draft version of a petition to the King James II from the Bishops, written by Lord Halifax, dated 1688.
