Scope and Content

From J. B. Walker to H. Ling Roth concerning fire-sticks. There is a possibility that Cotton may now send on the skulls for measurement at Hobart Museum. Moir's views on flints seem "fanciful" to him. Walker challenges Péron's view of Aboriginal graves, and doubts they were as elaborate as claimed. He also questions Petit and Lesueur's drawings of Aboriginal baskets as more likely to be Australian not Tasmanian. He does not believe Aboriginal Tasmanians carried sacred pieces of wood and stone with them. Looks forward to the publication of the book but feels embarrassed that there are only two or three other Australian subscribers.
