From James Tomkinson, a lawyer. He reports on various financial transactions he has carried out for Samuel Egerton; sends the particulars of Lady Sophia's settlement [presumably Lady Anne Sophia, the wife of John Egerton, Bishop of Durham]; refers to the death of Mr Davenport [Richard Davenport of Davenport and Calveley], naming the executors and discussing the will; in the first letter he refers to some spectacles which he has apparently sent to Samuel, commenting, "they should be opened, and put round your wigg, and I hope, you have before this, found them more usefull and easy, than if they were fixed on the Temples".
