File: Canada 1941

Scope and Content

File of correspondence relating to meeting in Toronto of the American Orthopaedic Association in June 1941. Platt was invited to discuss medicine in England during the War and this suggestion was supported by the Ministry of Health and the War Office, for whom Platt was engaged in consultancy work. Despite a recent road accident and difficulties caused by the War, Platt was determined to attend, but despite complicated arrangements being made, the journey was not possible. This file of correspondence relates to the original invitation and the arrangements made in England, Canada and America to facilitate the visit. The correspondence is in reverse chronological order.

See the series on the Ministry of Health, PLA/8/1, which relates to Platt's war-time consultancy work.
