Councillor Ray Dodd was born in Birkenhead, the eldest son of a shipyard electrician. He was the first manager of the newly-built Daniel Owen Community Centre, Mold, in 1973. He was first elected as a Councillor in 1976 and represented Mynydd Isa; Mold Broncoed; then served as a member for Delyn Borough Council; Flintshire County Council; and Mold Town Council. He served his first term as Mayor of Mold in 1994, his second term in 2005/6, and a third term in 2011/12.
