File relating to Val Warner's poetry collection Under the penthouse (Cheadle: Carcanet Press, 1973). The book was printed by W. and J. Mackay. The book file contains only the manuscript of the collection, which is in the form of a typescript. There are some revisions and corrections made in black ink by Warner herself. Printing instructions have been added by Michael Schmidt in red ink, and some instructions in green may also be by Schmidt. Schmidt has also added a brief pencil comment on the poem 'The Lady is a Tramp'. Further instructions made in pencil were probably added by the copy-preparer at the printing house. The author's blurb for the book, marked up for printing, is stored in Warner's correspondence file (see CPA/2/1/74/52).
