Letter

Scope and Content

Frederick Voigt to W. P. Crozier.

Location: Berlin.

A more important matter than the Siberian case has come to his attention. A Russian friend of his is in Moscow, having entered Russia unofficially; she is planning to visit provincial towns and villages. She is a very good writer, balanced, with mature judgement; she knows most of the revolutionary leaders. He refers to the interesting human stories contained in letters smuggled from the Social Democrats in Moscow to their fellow members in Berlin. His friend could send articles on everyday village life, as well as on political topics. He thinks that these would be the only uncensored material in any paper from 'the inside', and would contain a true perspective from Russia. This would not affect the Moscow correspondent, as she does not cover 'spot news'. He would undertake the translation.
