These letters, written over a period of twenty years, largely to Lord George Cavendish (the 5th Duke's uncle) concern the Corporation of Bandon and the burgesses elected to it and the Common Council of Bandon. Lord Shannon writes about vacancies in the Council and Corporation; offers recommendations for vacant MP seats for Bandon and Lismore and requests the 5th Duke of Devonshire's input for recommendations that require his approval or informs him about others from Mr James Bernard.
