Carbon copy of typed notes by W.R. Brock, regarding a typed biographical sketch of Thomas S. Chalmers, 1816-1903. The papers are held by the Chicago historical society. Brock only has the following to say about the sketch;
Thomas Chalmers was born in Dundee, and worked as a machinery erector in factories there and in Greenock. His voyage to the United States is descibed, as is his eventual success as a machinery manufacturer. Chalmers appears to have retained some contact with his familt and church in Scotland; when his home parish was buying a new church organ he was asked for a contribution. [S.d.]
