Scope and Content

From Dublin, to Revd. Jabez Bunting in London, informing him that Clarke has read out to the Irish Conference the plan proposed by the Missionary Committee in England to help the Irish Connexion in their present difficulties. The plan was discussed by a committee of the Conference and it has been accepted with some slight modifications.

Clarke describes his own experiences, while travelling in Ireland preaching to the local congregations. He pays particular attention to the state of rebellion that exists in much of the countryside, and describes in detail the clashes that are taking place between the military and the insurgents. He refers to the assistance rendered to magistrates in Cork by local methodists in searching for arms caches, and his own journey by coach from Cork to Dublin under armed escort.
