Scope and Content

2 letters and a copy letter from J. Bacon, an artist who produced a monument to Mr Egerton [possibly Samuel] to be placed in the chapel [at Rostherne]; he refers to various practical details, such as the need to examine the ground on which the monument will stand, what height of iron railings will be necessary and so on. He seems to have charged £1,000 for the work, some of which he had some trouble obtaining from James Tomkinson, who was responsible for paying him. The copy letter is addressed to Tomkinson himself, and on the same sheet are 2 other copy letters between Tomkinson and a John Collier, relating to a different matter - regarding an application to WE to dam the water of the Mersey adjoining land Collier purchased from WE.
