Twenty nine portfolios containing a mass of valuable antiquarian and historical material (MS. Notes and correspondence, reports of learned societies, newspaper cuttings, articles and papers, prints and photographs, etc.) relating to North Wales, collected by the late Dr G.A. Humphreys of Llandudno, Chairman of the Council of U.C.N.W. for many years until his death in 1948.

Administrative / Biographical History

G.A. Humphreys by profession an architect and surveyor and Chief Agent of the Mostyn Estates, he remained withal throughout his life an avid student of local history, and was one of the founder members of the Llandudno and District Field Club to whose Proceedings he contributed several valuable articles and papers.

On the history and antiquities of Llandudno and Creuddyn he was an acknowledged expert, and the material which he so patiently garnered into the portfolios - particularly the rare series of photographs of Old Llandudno - is an eloquent and abiding testimony to the thoroughness with which he pursued his subject.
