Material relating to the production 'Brief Lives', a one-man show adapted by Patrick Garland from one of the episodes of the BBC programme 'Famous Gossips' about the life of John Aubrey. As with the television programme, the role of John Aubrey was played by Roy Dotrice. The series contains copies of the script and prompt script, files of research materials and images, correspondence, papers relating to the initial production at the Hampstead Theatre Club, as well as performances at the Criterion Theatre, the RSC and the transfer to New York's Golden Theatre. There are also photographs of the set, the set dressing and rehearsal photographs, set plans and drawings, publicity and magazines and also correspondence relating to the set up and creation of the set in New York without Julia's supervision.
