The correspondence contains details on reactions to their marriage and information on their daily life and projects they were working on. This material reveals the relationship Ellen Terry and James Carew had after they separated. The tin box in which these letters were originally stored has also been included in this series.

Arrangement
This correspondence has been arranged in chronological order where the year is known. Some of the letters were undated and these have formed their own file. Additionally another file has been formed which contains fragments of letters and envelopes. The tin box in which the letters were orginally stored has been included at the end of this series.
