Correspondence with translators

Scope and Content

Partly typewritten, partly autograph correspondence, mostly letters sent to Hughes relating to the translation of his work, with some printed enclosures. In some letters the correspondents ask for permission to publish their translations whilst others have textual queries or ask about his career. The letters are from the following individuals - Doce, Jordi (8ff.); Duranti, Riccardo (6ff.); Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt (2ff.); Guillot, Claude (1f.); Kaussen, Jutta and Wolfgang (38ff.); Moulin, Joanny (7ff.); Stella, Maria (34ff., 1 booklet and 1 volume); Ursing, Gun (and David Harry) (1f.); Založba publishing (1f.) A German translation of the poem, 'Pike' (Hecht) by Richard Pietrass (6ff.) is also included.

Arranged alphabetically by correspondent and then chronologically within alphabetical sequence. Letters and enclosures sent by Maria Stella are arranged in a separate folder because of their size (Add MS 88918/30).
