The first meeting of BAWP was held in 1987 and was initially intended as a support group for women officers. The Association's aims include raising awareness of issues affecting women within the police service, networking and continuous professional development of its members. Membership is open to all ranks and levels of the police as well as police related organisations and those with related professional interests.
