House of Cards Trilogy

Administrative / Biographical History

BBC trilogy adapted from the Michael Dobbs novels. Initially released as a stand-alone adaptation, the four-part series was first broadcast on 18-Nov-90. It was followed, however, by television sequels To Play The King and The Final Cut , as Dobbs continued writing about its main character, the ambitious Conservative whip, Francs Urquhart (played by Ian Richardson). These sequels are listed under the series, House of Cards Trilogy . Drawing heavily from Davies' series as well as Dobb's novels, the series is later adapted for a Netflix Originals series (2013-) starring Kevin Spacey as the Machiavellian Urquhart. Davies is a credited executive producer for the show.
