A Very Peculiar Practice

Administrative / Biographical History

An original screenplay written by Davies, satirising his experience of working in higher education. Set in the fictional Lowlands University and its health centre, the programme followed the experiences of idealistic young doctor, Stephen Dakar (played by Peter Davison). Peculiar Practice ran for two series in 1986 and again in 1988 and was followed in 1992 by a 90-minute made for television film for Screen One, transposing some of its characters to Poland: 'A Very Polish Practice'. Both series were first broadcast on BBC 2.
