Journal of Samuel Davies, August - October 1882, describing his visit to the out stations of the Samoan mission. The voyage was delayed by the illness and death of Mrs Newell at Samoa. Islands which he visited included Olsenga [Olosega], Fakaofo and Atafu in the Tokelau group, Nukulaelae, Fanufuti, Vaitupu, Nukufetau, Nui, Nuitao, Nanomea [Nanumea] and Nanomanga [Nanumanga] in the Ellice [Tuvalu] group, and Arorae, Nukunau, Peru [Beru], Onotoa and Tamana in the Gilbert group [Kiribati]. At each station he received reports from the native teachers and visited the churches and schools. There is a covering letter accompanying the journal.
