This is a rather disjointed letter, written over 3 days and discussing a number of topics, notably Larkin's struggle in writing a play; jazz music; Katherine Mansfield; the nature of poetry; and Sutton's painting and drawing style. The letter is interspersed with descriptions of sun - lit days. (19pp.) Part is printed in the Selected Letters, pp. 14 - 18. Letter contains various illustrations, mainly about Larkin's sneezing due to hayfever plus one of him felling a tree.
