Letter from Auchinleck to Air Vice-Marshal M. [Meredith] Thomas, Air Officer Commanding, India, thanking him for his comments on his draft letter (AUC/1070 above) and for his suggested improvements, all of which have been adopted; stating that, in view of the complications inherent in the Imperial reserve proposals, he has omitted those paragraphs relating to the possibility of an Imperial or Commonwealth reserve of the RAF being stationed in India with the consent of the Government of India but at the expense of the British; and adding his thanks for copies of the correspondence with Sir Douglas Evill (AUC/1071 above) and for a thoroughly co-operative attitude. Typescript, signed.
