The University Grants Committee conducted regular visitations of the University until the 1980s in connection with planning the University's Quinquennium (5 year financial settlement). Visitations were made by the main UGC committee and a series of subject committees. The University produced documents for these visits which detailed current activities and areas where they wished to attract new UGC funding.
