Letter

Scope and Content

From Mrs E [or C.] Squarebridge [Probably the wife of the Wesleyan minister John Squarebridge (1783-1844)] at Ironbridge to Mary Tooth in Madeley. She has not yet engaged a nurse to care for her during her confinement [later stages of pregnancy] and she has been told that there are 2 or 3 resident in Madeley. Squarebridge would therefore be grateful for Tooth’s recommendation of a suitable person bearing in mind that they cannot pay more than 5 shillings a week.

Her love should be passed to Tooth’s sister [Rosamund]. Mr [John] Squarebridge is quite unwell at the moment.
