Scope and Content

Concerning Charles acknowledging that he has received Gertrude's letter from Constantinople and discusses its contents, declaring his relief that the new British Ambassador to Turkey [Sir Louis Mallet] is up to the job. Notes the recent Greek attack on a warship en route to Turkey from its British builders, Sir W. G. Armstrong & Co. Asks after Lord Cromer (1841-1917), in declining health. Notes that the changes to the Tsana treaty have been accepted by Kitchener, and declares that his proposed transfer to Basreh [Basrah, Iraq] is now no longer possible.
