Manuscript letter passing on an invitation to a discussion requested by a Reverend Osgood. Owen, Carlile and Reverend [Robert] Taylor are invited to discuss the question, set by Osgood, asking "Is the Bible to be accepted or rejected in that plan of education and instruction which insures the greatest good to the world". The discussion was to be held at the Institute [Rotunda] on the Surrey side of Blackfriars Bridge, [London], on the 14th June.
In a separate note, Carlisle discusses the name " Christian" which, it would appear, the use of which Owen and he, as "Reformers", disagreed upon. Carlisle writes that the question should not be whether he likes and Owen dislikes the word, but whether they "can or cannot do the greatest amount of good by associating the oldest and right principles with the name".
