Clarion

Scope and Content

Clarion, originally known as History Clarion (issues 1-5), was the journal of the University's History Department. It was first published in 1972 and appeared at regular intervals thereafter. It published information about the History Department's activities, and the earlier issues in particular carried detailed reports of Departmental Board meetings, especially matters relating to the history curriculum.

The collection appears to be a complete run of this publication; issues 1-70, with the exception of issue 62. There is no issue 40, which appears not to have been issued due to an error in the numbering sequence. An unnumbered issue entitled Limited Edition April 1985, was published between issues 63-64 as a temporary measure while a decision was made whether to continue Clarion . The last issue of Clarion came out in the summer term 1989.
