Letter from Arthur Powell

Scope and Content

Letter from Arthur Powell to his parents describing a miserable weekend of guard duty at the Royal Engineers Camp during a heavy snowfall. There was very little to eat during guard duty and he was 'absolutely starved through all the 24 hours'. The camp has not yet moved and he can give no details at to when it will, although a London division has gone on before them to Ipswich, then Aldershot. Their packed kit bag can weigh no more than 15lbs.

Dated at: Crowborough Camp, Sussex.
