He has received 'The Garden' for many weeks and is grateful for it; he has seen extracts from a book of his in the journal; he is not a horticulturalist but has read and admired Robinson's articles and illustrations; if Robinson feels obliged to him for passages he has borrowed, Holmes is repaid by the pleasure of seeing them in such good company and by receiving the journal without payment; his friend Mr H. Winthrop Sargent speaks with interest of Robinson's journal which must be popular in England and America
