She explained the pictures belonged to her and not to her husband in whose name they were sold at auction on 19 December 1930

-letter from N. Mitchell, art dealer, dated 20 December 1930, concerning a portrait of Lieutenant Gardiner by Northcote, which he bought at auction on 19 December 1930 and asking Roberts to provide a good certificate for the picture
