Originally a separate Resource Committee, it was reconstituted as a subcommittee of the Policy and Resources Committee in January 1976.
Terms of reference include: control of the County Council's land resources except statutory smallholdings, roads and bridges; control of buildings and equipment including the allocation of accommodation; central purchasing and contracts; maintenance of supplies and equipment; control of County Council's printing facilities.
Acquired responsibility for provision of sites for gypsies from Amenities and Countryside Committee in May 1997 (see CC2/5).
In May 1987 its land and buildings functions were transferred to the Property Subcommittee and its reponsibility for supplies, including movable plant and vehicles, was transferred to the Finance and General Purposes Subcommittee.
