Three letters written home to his mother and family by Brin (Gunner Brinley Trevor Stiens, no. 136954, D. Battery, 307 Brigade, Royal Field Artillery), stationed in France in the First World War. Brinley Stiens was the son of Albert Thomas Stiens and Mary Elizabeth Stiens, who lived at 38 Wern Terrace, Port Tennant, Swansea. His father was a zinc furnaceman, of German parentage. Brinley was born in 1897 and died in action on 18 May 1918. He married Olive M. Chriswick in Swansea in 1916 and had a daughter, Barbara.
