In The Making - directories of Co-operative projects.
In The Making
Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
In The Making, or ITM, was originally set up as an informal newsheet produced by a collective in Sheffield who were looking for other co-operatives to join them. They sought to publicise projects that placed an emphasis on sharing work, profits, ownership, responsibility and decision making to challenge exploitative capitalist enterprises. Developing into a directory, ITM concentrated on grass roots projects, as well as more established, but developing Co-operatives. The directories also contain articles, reviews, information, events and contacts. We are unable to ascertain from records as to when ITM ceased to be published.
Open for consultation
In October 2017, the National Co-operative Archive published a call-out for historic materials within the wider worker co-op community for Working Together , an Heritage Lottery Funded project seeking to record and preserve the heritage of the worker co-operative moment. This material was deposited in response to this call out. Part of the collection was received from the Co-operative College, the rest of the collection was deposited by various individuals.
