Lanchester compiled and retained the materials within the collection, which divide into professional (Lanchester Engine Company/Lanchester Motor Company) charts, notebooks and drawings and personal papers, mainly lecture papers many on the internal combustion engine, either given by Lanchester or collected by him. The Collection includes hundreds of engineering drawings, component photographs and his notebook. All the items relate to the company's early work. The Company was also known as Lanchester Engine Company and Lanchester Brothers during the 1890s.
