These records consist of papers relating to the management, administration and production of BBC radio services and programmes from 1922 onwards. They include records concerning contributors to programmes, radio production processes and the administration of programme making departments. Other records in this sub-fonds include those relating to the overall direction and strategy of radio broadcasting, the BBC’s Orchestras and Music Groups, and educational/schools broadcasting.

Arrangement
This sub-fonds is arranged into five sub-sub-fonds; Production Documentation Radio (Programmes-as-Broadcast and programme scripts), Radio Artists and Contributors, Education, Orchestras and Music Groups, and Programmes Radio. The records are arranged by file series within each of these sub-sub-fonds. Some radio record series are not part of one of the sub-sub-fonds. They are arranged directly under the sub-fonds.
The sub-fonds Radio was previously known as ‘Radio and Central’. It has been subsequently rearranged into three sub-fonds, Radio, Corporate, and Engineering, to better reflect the original provenance of the files.
