Scope and Content

From Sutton near Mansfield to Madeley. He looks forward to receiving a favourable account of Fletcher's health, although he is sure that no matter her condition, she would always say that she was fine. As for Cursham himself, he is rather better than he has been for several years past. Spiritual matters are discussed. His dear wife however, has been very sick these last six months past and has been lame through a [unreadable word] complaint. She is somewhat better at present. 'She is far advanced in her pregnancy, & her bad habits of body frequently alarms me'. They would be grateful for the prayers of Fletcher and her friends.

Cursham hopes that the Lord blesses his labours, as a minister and school master. His congregations are very large and many people from the outlying villages come in for services. 'The lady [Mrs Chaworth] who was offended on acct of Mr Dodwell preaching a week-day at Annesley about two years ago, has never been at church but once since'.
