Cuttings Books

Scope and Content

The cuttings books are two very large volumes which, going by the handwriting and subject matter, were compiled by V.H.H. Green. The latest known date for their creation is 1986 as photographs of the repair work on the Chapel roof are included, but it is unclear when they were first begun; they may have been an ongoing project from the beginning of Green's fellowship in 1951.

The images are occasionally annotated with captions, either TS or MS, which have been written out during cataloguing in the scope and content as relevant.

For information about the photographs of College estates in the Cuttings Books, see also the College Order Book 1889-1912: LC/G/M/4, where on page 88, it records that on Chapter Day, 6 May 1891, [J A R] Munro was to take photographs of College properties with his expenses defrayed by the College.
