Agents department for the Rhymney Valley collieries

Scope and Content

These papers consist of the papers of the colliery agent who represented the coal owning company in day-to-day matters at the colliery. They include weekly reports and workmen's inspector reports from the Rhymney Valley Collieries (Britannia, Elliot, Windsor, Bargoed, Groesfaen, Pidwellt, New Tredegar, Rhymney Merthyr, Brithdir, Pengam and Ogilvie). Subjects of the correspondence include employee matters, disputes, orders and equipment. The correspondence for 1926 (DPD/2/5/6) is particulary interesting as it covers employee matters during the Miners Strike.
