William Cameron. Transcript of the autobiography with additions and emendations by the editor. According to the editor, this transcript was made by Robert Donaldson, but it is in several different hands. The autobiography was written at the request of David Robertson, bookseller, Glasgow, while Hawkie was a winter inmate of the Glasgow Town's Hospital between 1840 and 1850. It was edited by John Tod and published with the title: Hawkie; the autobiography of a gangrel, by David Robertson & Co., Glasgow, in 1888
