Scope and Content

Unfinished play. Comprises two parts:

A: Notebook made from typescript and manuscript leaves pasted into a copy of The British Countryside in Pictures. Consists of Act I and beginning of Act II. Includes drawings of characters Manifold Basket and Bellgrove. Undated.

B: Five loose leaves with fragmentary notes, exposition and dialogue. Includes rough sketch entitled ‘chorus of masters’. Undated.

Although undated, the play was probably written in the mid 1950s (a portion of 'Isle Escape' [Add MS 88931/3/2] which probably dates between 1954 and 1956 was found with this manuscript). See also short story on the same subject Add MS 88931/1/11.
