B&W photographic print. 'A gate made out of a single piece of wood and protected by a thatched roof. On either side can be seen the village fence. These defences were no longer needed at the time This photograph was taken. In the old days the ceremonies accompanying the erection of a new gate would have included the taking of a head.'
