B&W photographic print. 'A khel (village part) gate carved and painted with a traditional design, bearing the date of its erection - 20 January 1915. Between the huge horns of the mithun is the head of a warrior with a head-dress of hornbill feathers. The heavy gate, hewn from a huge tree, would be closed at night for protection. Although they are no longer needed for defence, khel gates are still replaced today, with the traditional gate-pulling ceremony.'
