Prints and corresponding negatives relating to John Garstang's excavation of Meroë. These images appear to have been collated into an album at a later date and comprise negatives depicting maps, plans and photographs of photographs, possibly created to be turned into lantern slides; additional images of the bronze head of Augustus discovered at site 292; and various images of the excavation. The latter mostly appear to be negatives formerly held elsewhere in the collection but later removed and not returned to their correct place. Where possible, the original negatives have been returned to their correct location in the collection.
