Volumes within each title are arranged chronologically. The original order of the papers within each volume has been maintained where possible. Add MS 88880/2/45-54. Pinter Archive. 'The Handmaid's Tale; May 1984-Feb. 1987. Mostly typewritten. An adaptation of the novel by Margaret Atwood. Directed by Volker Schlondorff and released in 1990. Pinter completed the screenplay in Feb. 1987 for the original director Karel Reisz. When Schlondorff took over the role of director he wanted some changes made to the script, which were eventually done by Atwood. Add MS 88880/2/82-86. Pinter Archive. 'Proust'; March 1972-Oct. 1972, n.d. Mostly typewritten. An adaptation of the novel 'À la recherche du temps perdu' by Marcel Proust. Pinter collaborated with Barbara Bray and Joseph Losey in the writing of the screenplay. Currently [2008] unproduced as a film, it was made into a two-hour radio play by Michael Bakewell in 1995. It was also adapted for the stage by Pinter and Di Trevis and performed as 'Remembrance of Things Past' at the National Theatre, 23 Nov. 2000, directed by Di Trevis. Screenplay first published as The Proust Screenplay, Methuen (1978). Stage play first published as Remembrance of Things Past, Faber and Faber (2000). Add MS 88880/11. Nobel Prize for Literature Papers. Harold Pinter was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2005. The prize was announced on 13 Oct. 2005. The award ceremony took place at the Swedish Academy in Stockholm on 7 Dec. 2005. Pinter's Nobel Lecture 'Art, Truth and Politics' was pre-recorded and delivered via video.
