'The Lion Tamer's Daughter' and 'Touch and Go'

Series of draft material and correspondence relating to the publication of the 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter and other stories', 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter' and 'Touch and Go', all by Peter Dickinson. 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter and other stories' was published in America as a short story anthology in 1997. The anthology consisted of four short stories - 'The Spring', 'Checkers', 'Touch and Go', and 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter'. 'The Spring' had already been published in two other anthologies prior to its publication in 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter and other stories' - in Jean Richardson's anthology of ghost stories, 'Beware! Beware!', in 1987, and in 'The Puffin Book of Ghost Stories', edited by Gene Kemp, in 1992. Gollancz originally intended to publish the anthology of the four stories as it appeared in America but serious delays on their part led Dickinson to accept an alternative publication offer from Macmillan, who published the story 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter' as a novel in its own right, and the other three stories from the anthology as 'Touch and Go', both in 1999. The drafts and correspondence in this series relate to the US anthology of all four stories, as well as the separate British editions of 'The Lion Tamer's Daughter' and 'Touch and Go'.
